Curtis Maurice Vaughn Obituary

Curtis Maurice Vaughn was born October 14, 1990, to Allen and Patricia McIntosh Vaughn in Oxford, Mississippi.

Maurice, as he was affectionately called by his family, accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He received his education from Oxford City schools and played football for the Oxford High School Chargers.

Maurice was previously employed as an Unloader at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in New Albany, MS. He was proud of this job and worked diligently while there.

Though he liked football, Maurice absolutely loved the sport of boxing and proved himself to be very talented at it. He found solace in the ring. When he wasn’t boxing or spending time with his children, Maurice enjoyed watching football, particularly the Ole Miss Rebels and New England Patriots.

Maurice was very protective of his family, adored his sisters, and would often take on others’ problems as his own. He was crazy about his children, nieces, and nephews. He was a fashionable guy who loved taking pictures and often referred to himself as “Luxury Guy.” He is remembered as a loving, thoughtful, caring, and giving man. His sister Daisha would tease him about how caring he was – referring to a childhood story of him ‘adopting’ a stray dog which Maurice named Pup Pup.

On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Maurice passed away. His smile and loving spirit will forever be missed and cherished by his children, Curtis Vaughn, Jr., Kaden Slack, London Vaughn all of Oxford, MS, JaCobe Vaughn of Dallas, TX, Paris Ware of Pontotoc, MS, Erinee Blackmon of Olive Branch, MS, and E’Nijah Vaughn of Indianapolis, IN; loving parents, Allen and Patricia Vaughn of Oxford, MS; sisters, Erika (Larry) Hilliard, Daisha Hudson, Celisse Hickinbottom all of Oxford, MS and Andrea Bledsoe of Duck Hill, MS; nieces and nephews, Samiah, Jab, Haleigh, Amiyah, Aniyah, LaRyiah, Cali and Tavaris, Jr.; special friend, Nikki Farr of Nettleton, MS; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Maurice is preceded in death by his brother, Tavaris Robbins and grandparents, John Curtis and Francis McIntosh, Juanita Vaughn, and Al Freeman Waters.
