Obituary

Burr, Oliver Leslie

16 Mar 1950 - 28 Mar 2023

Oliver (Ollie) Burr passed away on March 28, 2023, at the age of 73 in his hometown of East Mountain, N.S. following a battle with cancer.

The day also marks the 55th anniversary of his immigration to Canada from “The Old Country,” as he called it. Oliver, a stanchly proud Canadian, considered this date as one of the most important dates on the calendar each year.

His career, or rather “careers” were as remarkable as his attention to detail and drive for perfection in everything he put his mind and energy towards. Over the years he worked as a draftsman, spray pilot (spruce budworm and potatoes), red seal mechanic (automotive, heavy duty and motorcycle), and finally, an apprenticeship officer for the Government of Nova Scotia. Amongst all that, he even fit in a stint as a stay-at-home Dad; arguably one of the harder jobs.

Oliver was a very skilled woodworker and gardener, but most will remember him as a mechanical wizard with an absolute love of motorcycles and racing. His ability to create and tune fast and beautiful works of art was incredible. His love of bikes was contagious, and he passed it on to all his sons. That passion also inspired him to start Precious Metal Racing which has been a family affair for more than 20 years. Many weekends and countless hours over those years were spent racing at Atlantic Motorsports Park - Shubenacadie, NS; NHIS - Loudon, NH; Mosport - Bowmanville, ON and in the garage creating/repairing.

He will be missed, but thanks to the great experiences and adventures had with friends and family, never forgotten.

Oliver was predeceased by his father, Gerald, mother, Evelyn.

He is survived by wife, Marilyn: his sisters, Rosemary and Christine; sons, Kevin, Alison and Jason and grandchildren, Evelyn, Sarah, Natalie, Allison and Charlotte.

No visitation or service by request. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Online condolences are available at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
