<p>Colleen Slagle, 101, former resident of Parsons and Pittsburg, died at 9:46 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2023 at the home of her daughter in Enterprise, Alabama.</p><p>She was born June 6, 1921, at Hewins, Kansas to Clarence and Marjorie (Myers) Hankins. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1939 and attended the Tulsa Business College.</p><p>On June 14, 1942 she and Donald E. Slagle were married at the First Methodist Church in Pittsburg. The lived in Pittsburg until moving to Parsons in 1970. In October of 2007 Colleen and Don moved to Enterprise, Alabama to be close to a daughter. Don preceded her in death on July 30, 2010 after 68 years of marriage.</p><p>Colleen was a member of the First Christian Church of Parsons. For many years she was active in various fraternal organizations and was organist for Progress Chapter # 49, Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She was past matron of the Rob Morris Chapter # 74, O.E.S. in Pittsburg and past queen of Azrim Temple # 81, Daughters of the Nile in Pittsburg and was also a member of Al Phurah No. 126, Daughters of the Nile in Montgomery, Alabama. She also was a past member of Amaranth Regal Court # 10 of Fort Scott and past royal matron of Mithra Court # 7 of Pittsburg.</p><p>Colleen is survived by two daughters, Donna Kay Smith (John) of Enterprise, Alabama and Martha Jane Swenson (Charles) of Fredonia; a son-in-law, Gregg Hardeman of Newton; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Hardeman, a grandson, tony Smith and a sister, Lovern Gamble.</p><p>The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the First Christian Church, with Rev. Jennifer Dawson officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at Garden of Memories Cemetery north of Pittsburg. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m., until the funeral hour.</p><p>The family expresses thanks to Enhabit Hospice and to her granddaughter, Tammy Batchelor, for her loving care of her grandmother.</p><p>Memorials are suggested to the church or the Daughters of the Nile Foundation, 6705 Mesa Drive, Austin, TX 78731-2817.
