Norma Jean Baxter- also fondly known as “Boots”, 91, passed away March 26, 2023 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Derry, NH after a period of declining health. She was born January 19, 1932 in Elgin, IL, daughter of the late Ralph Henry Whitmore Vogle and Bertha Alice (Carlson) Vogle.

Norma grew up in Burlington, IL, was an only child in her family and graduated from Burlington High School. On December 23, 1950, she married Harry Beebe and they lived in Illinois between Burlington, Marengo and lastly Rockford, IL raising their family. Professionally, Norma was a longtime nurse specializing in gastroenterology at the Swedish American Hospital. She finished her career in nursing doing home healthcare. Norma’s marriage to Harry ended in divorce. Later, while working she met Bradley Baxter. On December 7, 1983, she and Bradley got married and resided in Rockford, IL. Norma moved to Candia, NH 3 years ago to live closer to family. Family meant everything to Norma as was evidence of her devotion to taking care of her deaf son all her life.

Norma was a former active member of the Brooke Road United Methodist Church in Rockford, IL. Her hobbies included traveling, celebrating all holidays and organizing all special occasions and parties.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bradley Baxter.

Norma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Teresa Beebe, daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Brad Erwin, son, Chris Beebe, 5 grandchildren, Heather (Dave), Michelle (Vic), Matthew (Jennifer), Stephanie (Troy), Bradley Jr., 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and several step-children and their families.

A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date in a park in Illinois.
