Kathern "Kay" Nunemaker

<p>Kathern Kay (Comer) Nunemaker, 82, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at her home surrounded by loving family. Kay was born on February 14, 1941, in Elkhart, to the late Mervin and Pearl (Wise) Comer. On October 10, 1970, Kay married the love of her life, Carl E. Nunemaker. </p><p>Kay is preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl, and parents, Mervin and Pearl. She is survived by her children, Karl Nunemaker of Elkhart, Christine (Thomas) Glover of Middlebury, Karolyn (Marty) Rigsby of Cassopolis, MI, and Christine Ballinger of Kalamazoo, MI; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jenene (Frank) Elkins of Eustis, FL, and Lavon Comer of Elkhart. </p><p>In accordance with Kay’s wishes, cremation was chosen and a private graveside service will take place at a later date. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations in Kay’s honor may be made to Elara Caring Hospice Foundation, PO Box 58, Jackson, MI 49204 or at https://elara.com/. </p><p>Kay worked as an assistant manager at Dollar General. In her spare time, she loved to crochet, spend quality time with her grandchildren, go on camping trips, and roller skate. </p><p>Kay, along with all the joy and love she shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts she has touched throughout her life. </p>
