<p>Joseph "Sonny" F. McIntyre, 90</p><p>Dominion, NS</p><p><br></p><p>It is with deep heartache, that we the family of Sonny McIntyre, announce his passing in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Sonny was the son of the late Helen (Nearing) and William McIntyre.</p><p><br></p><p>Sonny was a Coal Miner for 39 years and a member of Dominion Fire Department. When he was younger, Sonny coached baseball for numerous years. Dad loved sports, especially the Toronto Blue Jays, and Toronto Maple Leafs. Sonny was very social in his younger years; and always had a quick wit and sense of humour, this wittiness lasted right up until his final days.</p><p><br></p><p>Surviving Sonny is his wife Cecilia McIntyre of 67 years; three sons: Paul (Mary Ann) McIntyre, Ross (Sheri) McIntyre, and Sean (Tanya) McIntyre; five daughters: Gail Aucoin (Glenn), Helen (Wes) Truckair, Chery Buchanan (Jerome), Lori McIntyre (Ted), and Karen McIntyre (Robert); daughter in law: Shawna McIntyre.</p><p>Sonny is also survived by a brother Michael McIntyre, Boston; three sisters: Eileen McNeil, Pat McCarthy, and Betty Zillich; grandchildren: Angie, Alicia, Serena, Chantel, Sarah, Brandon, Garret, Wade, Jacqueline, Ausin, Sydney, Rachel, and Kristen Olivia; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.</p><p>Special mention to Omar MacPherson, long-time friend of da.</p><p><br></p><p>Along with his parents, Sonny was predeceased by his loving son Gary McIntyre; brothers: Charles, John, and William; sisters: Millie and Cloe.</p><p><br></p><p>We would like to express our sincere appreciation and thank you to the staff at Taigh Na Mara Nursing Home for the care and compassion shown to my husband, and to our dad during his time there.</p><p><br></p><p>Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 1-3 p.m., and a Celebration of Life to follow at 3 p.m., with Fr. Daniel Boudreau presiding, all in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. 902.849.4199.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association.</p><p><br></p><p>Words of comfort may be expressed to the family by visiting www.tjtracey.com.</p><p><br></p>
