Amelia Isabelle Pomeroy Obituary

Amelia Isabelle Pomeroy

Mustang - Amelia I. Pomeroy, 8, died unexpectedly on March 22, 2023, at OU Children’s Hospital. She was born June 18, 2014, in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of Daniel and Mesha (MacGown) Pomeroy.

Amelia was in the 2nd grade and taught by her mom in a homeschooled program that values real life experiences and hands-on learning, a strategy that Amelia thrived in. Thanks to this type of learning environment, Amelia developed a love for the outdoors. When she wasn’t outside, you would find Amelia shooting hoops with her basketball team, The Elite, whipping up playdough in the kitchen, baking with her mom, wrestling with her Dad (which she always won) or playing with her friends. Amelia loved crafts and loved to surprise her parents with hidden art that she had affectionally created with dirt, moss, clay, grass, glitter, and anything that she could get her hands on. Amelia’s creative and spunky personality is what she will be remembered affectionately for. She always kept everyone laughing. There is so much more that can be said about this sweet girly-tomboy with her love of unicorns that was unmatched by any child. Amelia will always remain the light and happiness of the family, even in memory.

Amelia is predeceased by her favorite dog, Blue, and Great Grandmothers, Donna McDougal and Jean Arey. In addition to her parents, Amelia is survived by an older brother, Julien, with whom she loved to fish, and her little brother, Leo, who she loved to play with and make laugh. Amelia is survived by many friends and family who love her, including grandparents Donald and Mary Pomeroy, Valerie and Dennis Threats, and Martin and Lynette MacGown. Amelia was surrounded by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dearest friends (who were like family). Though there isn’t enough space to name each one individually, they loved Amelia like no other and she loved them too.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 pm Central, Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at McNeil’s Funeral Service. Services will be offered through livestream for family and friends who wish to join Amelia’s celebration and remembrance. Arrangements by McNeil’s Funeral Service 525 West Highway 152 Mustang, OK 73064.
