W. Kenneth Sparks Obituary

Winton “Kenneth” Sparks, formerly of Tuttle, was born the fourth of five boys May 9, 1930 to John “Jay” Sparks and Esther Rachel (Sizemore) Sparks in Brady, Oklahoma. He went home to be with Jesus on March 22, 2023.

He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1948 and joined the Army, spending four years in the service. When he got out, he played basketball for a season at Oklahoma City University.

He met Jeanette Pool on a blind date. They got married on July 3, 1955 and spent 65 years together. In 1972, they moved to Tuttle, where he worked his 6-acre farm and raised calves. After he retired from the Post Office in 1985, he and Mom operated the Sparks Sign Rental and Sales for several years. They spent many happy years camping and fishing, working together, and raising a family. But he lost Mom in October 2020.

In November 2022, he met the sweet Rose Elrod at lunch. Over the course of many conversations, they found much in common, and by Christmas of that year, had decided to get married. So on February 11, 2023, they joined their lives together. We are grateful to Rose for the joy she brought him.

He was quite a talker and rarely met a stranger. He loved sports, especially baseball and basketball and was a pretty good player in his day. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Tuttle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers, and his wife Jeanette. He is survived by his bride, Rose; his daughter Karen and husband Terry Watts of Mustang; son Kevin and wife Stephanie of Bartlesville. Grandchildren Jake & Heather Sparks of Bartlesville; Molly Sparks of Bartlesville, Claire & Alex Bryan of Bartlesville, Beau Sparks of Rogers, Arkansas and Laine Sparks of Bartlesville.  Also great-grandchildren Moss & Carly. He is also survived by Rose’s children: Daryl & Gina Elrod, Gerald & Shere Elrod and Steve & Cheryl Outon.

Funeral service will be held 10:00am Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at McNeil’s Funeral Service, Mustang, OK with interment following at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City, OK.
