Mary Ellen Bond, 68, of Columbia passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at her home, surrounded by family, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on August 23, 1949 in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Herman Hansen and the late Clara (Ehrhardt) Hansen. On October 17, 1970, Mary was united in marriage to Marvin Bond. He survives her passing. Mary attended Fulton High School for two years before transferring to Mokane High School where she was elected Prom Queen in 1966. She was a graduate of Mokane High School in 1967. Following graduation, Mary attended Barnes School of Nursing from 1967 until 1970. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Boone Hospital. Mary loved to work outdoors, especially with her flowers and taking care of her yard. She also enjoyed traveling to historical sites across the country. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband of 47 years; daughters, Stacy Lynn Bond of Bloomington, Il., and Suzanne Elizabeth Knipp (Danny) of Roswell, Ga.; brother, Melvin Hansen, Jr. (Sylvia) of Columbus, In.; and sister, Patricia Hansen of Columbia. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2201 West Rollins, Columbia, MO, with Pastor Kenneth Gerike and Pastor Brian Thieme officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
