Roberta J. Eickhorst, 95 of Carlock died at 10:03 AM on Monday May 9, 2016 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.
There will be a funeral service for Roberta on Monday May 16, 2016 at 11 AM at North Danvers Mennonite Church in rural Danvers. Pastor Brian Johnson will officiate. There will be a visitation from 9AM – 11 AM at the church. Interment will take place in North Danvers Mennonite Cemetery. Otto-Argo-Calvert Memorial Home, Carlock, IL has been entrusted with the arrangements.
She was born May 29, 1920 in Bloomington to Jesse and Della Lippencott Kohler. She married Donald F. Eickhorst on May 20, 1945 in Oakland, CA. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2004. She was also preceded in death by one sister Lucille Kohler.
Roberta is survived by three sons Ronald (Gretchen) Eickhorst of St. Charles, MO, Steven (Charmaine) Eickhorst of Bloomington, Craig (Twila) Eickhorst of Carlock, six grandchildren, Jenny Eickhorst, Blake Eickhorst, Kyle (Lisa) Eickhorst, Reid (Stephanie) Eickhorst, Jonathan (Lindsay) Eickhorst, Emily (Andrew) McIntosh, seven great-grandchildren, Parker, Colin, Miles, Hudson, Elijah, Elliana, and Ella Grace Eickhorst.
Roberta graduated from Carlock High School in 1938 and attended Illinois Wesleyan University. She and Don lived in Downers Grove until 1951 when they moved to her family’s farm south of Carlock. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards and golf. She was a member of North Danvers Mennonite Church, White Oak Home Extension, and McLean County Farm Bureau and a volunteer at Mennonite Hospital for several years. Roberta deeply loved her family and found great joy in their lives and accomplishments.
The family wishes to thank the staff at McLean County Nursing Home for their love and excellent care the past two years. It will always be remembered and appreciated.
