Charles Melvin “Charlie” Hendricks, 69 of Carlock died at 2:40 PM Monday February 20, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal. There will be a Memorial Service for Charlie on Saturday February 25, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Carlock Mennonite Church in Carlock. Pastor Doane Brubaker will officiate. There will be a visitation from 4-7 PM on Friday February 24, 2017 at the Church. Inurnment will be at a later date at Lantz Cemetery in Carlock. Otto-Argo-Calvert Funeral Home in Carlock is handling arrangements. Charlie was born August 26, 1947 in Bloomington to Melvin E. and Ada Mae Thacker Hendricks. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two bothers Paul and Ronnie Hendricks. He is survived by three sisters, Janice I. Reimer of Carlock, Connie (Phil) Raistrick of Bradenton, Florida, Rita (David) Garrison of Carlock, seven nieces and nephews, Susan (Doug) Reimer Sifford of Winter Spring, FL, Sandra (Mark) Wilson of Bloomington, Pamela (John) Rosa of Bloomington, Patricia (Scott) Harter of Bloomington, Brian (Kerstin) Wiles of Atlanta, GA, Matthew (Magdalena) Garrison of Chicago, and Kristin (Jason) Smith of Leroy. Charlie worked many years as a Laborer for the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was an active member of Carlock Mennonite Church, CASA, and in the IDOT Teamsters Union. He had a passion for the Special Olympics where he was active in the Heart of Illinois Special Olympics. He loved the times he spent riding his Harley-Davidson Bike with his friends. He and his friends also attended every FarmAid concert. He had a love for trains, as well as model trains and his 1950 Plymouth Coupe he restored and loved to take on afternoon drives. He affectionately called it “Buffy”. Charlie was a loving brother and uncle and will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Advocate BroMenn for the loving care Charlie received. Memorial contributions may be made to Carlock Mennonite Church or Heart of Illinois Special Olympics.
