Grace Elaine Paul

<p>Grace Elaine Paul, 100, died on March 23, 2023 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby. Grace was born to Oscar and Mary (Tuff) Rudolph, on May 9, 1922 and raised with her 9 siblings on a farm in the Barton area. She attended Banner School # 1 and Rugby High School, and graduated from York High School in 1940. She married William Cecil Henry Paul in Rugby on February 25, 1943 and they made their home along Washington Avenue. Grace taught school for a time at Hendrickson #3 School. They were the parents of 3 sons, Harlan in 1944, Tim in 1946, and Rjay in 1962. Besides helping Cecil on the farm, she worked at Jacobson’s Department Store in Rugby.</p><p>Grace was a very active woman all her long life, serving the Barton Farmer’s Union Youth Leader for 28 years, charter member of the Rugby Credit Union on which she served on the Board for many years and the Rugby Eagles Auxiliary, Heart of America Library board, and a member of the Dewey Homemakers Club. She was a long time member of First Lutheran Church and its choir and ladies aid. In addition she served well over 100 hours as a Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary volunteer. She and Cecil will always be remembered for the barn dances that they hosted at their farm. Grace found a lot pleasure in playing cards and going fishing.</p><p>Grace is survived by her sons, Tim (Sheila) and Rjay (Lori) both of Rugby and her grandchildren, Rhett (Whitney) Paul and Nara (Chris) Murphy, her step grand children, Justin (RaChelle) Gruenberg, Josh (Sara) Gruenberg, Tyler Koble, Tamra Rustad and Darrin Rustad, and her great grand children, Recker, Chuck, Jake, and Kale Gruenberg. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and a daughter-in-law, JoAn Paul. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil in 2008, her son Harlan in 1993, her parents, brothers and sisters, and a her daughter-in-law Maryann in 2003.</p><p>Funeral Services will be held at First Lutheran Church in Rugby on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. Friends may call at the church one hour before the service time.
