Bernice D. (Adler) Fehrenbach Obituary

Bernice Dorothy (Adler) Fehrenbach, 95, Marshfield, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at House of the Dove in Marshfield.

She was born December 23, 1927 in Marshfield, Wisconsin and was the oldest daughter of Anton (Buck) Adler and Kathryn (Schuster) Adler. She received her elementary education at St John’s Catholic School and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1945. On May 8, 1948, she married Robert J. Fehrenbach at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield, Wisconsin. She was a charter member of Our Lady of Peace in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

While still living in Marshfield and after having their four children, she worked from home making custom drapes for Roll-A-Home Mobile Homes and the McCain & Johnson Store. They moved their family from Marshfield in 1963 to start their first photography studio in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, where she worked side by side with her husband, Robert. They had a happy and successful career in photography. Bernice did all the print corrections, by hand, for all four studios, which were in Reedsburg, Sauk City, Mauston and Waunakee. Retiring in 1980, they sold their four Fehrenbach Studios to their sons. Bernice and Bob enjoyed their retirement by traveling. They wintered for many years in Arizona, summered in their cottage on the Eau Plaine Flowage but always called home, their condo in Marshfield.

Bernice enjoyed crocheting and knitting, making thousands of stocking hats for the homeless and the less fortunate. She also enjoyed playing cards, dominos and working on her computer, until macular degeneration made it hard and frustrating for her to continue.

She was blessed with four children. Michael (Jenny) and Thomas (Colleen) Fehrenbach, Susan Gullick (Thomas) and Kris Alt (Michael). She has seven grandchildren, Anton (Jen) and Jacob (Colleen) Fehrenbach; Erika Fehrenbach Prell (Adam) and Tim Fehrenbach (Carmen); Amy Gullick Sheridan (Trent) and Allison Gullick Booth (Paul); Kathryn “Katie” Alt Martin (Shawn). She is also survived by and blessed with 16 great grandchildren.

Bernice is also survived by a brother-in-law, Dale Tremmel; sisters-in-law, Grace Adler, Margie Adler and Patricia Adler. She is also survived by several cousins, many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to: her nieces, Lyn (Tremmel) Ruder, Karen (Fahey) Krier and her husband, John; Lucia (Fehrenbach) Haupt; and friends, Jo, Sandy, Darlene and Earl, “Dave” her Postman, Reyna and all her other friends at “Sawyer Place”, for always being there for her when she needed help, so she could stay in her beloved condo.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Robert; her mother and father; brothers, Donald, Lloyd, Paul and James Adler; sisters, Beverly Fahey, Patricia Tremmel and Joan Adler; brother-in-law, Kenneth Fahey. She was also proceeded in death by her brothers and sisters in law; James and Janice Fehrenbach; Donald Fehrenbach; Mary Jane and Don Trossen; William and Marian Fehrenbach; Norman and Melba Fehrenbach; and Joan and Darrell Wenzel; and very special friends, Ken and Cynthia Specht; and Willard Niehaus.
