On Saturday March 18, 2023, God in his infinite wisdom called our beloved Sister, Addie home from labor to reward, bringing to a close an inspiring life.

Addie was born October 16, 1928, in Hampton, SC to the late Sidney and Lucella (Devine) Smith. At a very young age, the family moved to Neptune, NJ where she attended the public schools of Neptune and graduated from Neptune High School.

She was employed by the State of NJ (Malboro Psychiatric Hospital) for 32 years.  She retired in May 1994.  She loved her job and if you ever engaged in conversation with her, she would delight in sharing the many hats she wore as an LPN.  She was a walking historian; she knew many people in Asbury Park and most people knew her.

Sis. Addie loved the Lord, she was a dedicated and committed member to her church.  She may have been a nurse by profession but collecting money and selling tickets was her niche.  She served her church with gladness and was active in the following ministries, Class Leader, President of Jewels of Zion, Steward Board Ministry, Calendar Club, Christian Education, Sunday School and WH&OM Society. Her favorite pastimes were, traveling especially with her church family, playing cards, and cooking.

DGT. Addie Lee Davis was a proud, committed, and hardworking dedicated member of the “Pride Temple #64”.  DGT Addie Lee Davis was initiated into Pride of Asbury Temple #64 in 1952.  She served as Vice DGT. Ruler, Chaplain Trustee and Treasurer.  A position she held for over 20 years.  She was also a member of the Joint Management team where she served as treasurer.  She was also a member of the Past State President’s Club where she served as a trustee.  DGT. Davis was s very active daughter.  She served on many committees.  She was a valuable member of Pride of Asbury Temple #64 and certainly loved the Elks.

Addie was preceded in death by her parents, the late Sidney and Lucella (Devine) Smith, daughter, Lynne Laster, son, Thomas Leo “Poppa” Davis, Jr, granddaughter, Theresa Ann Harris (Davis) T.T., and grandson, Donald Laster.
