Ihor Konstantinovych Sakhnovskyi

<p>Ihor Konstantinovych Sakhnovskyi, 83, of Kearneysville, formerly of Verkhnedneprovsk, Dnipro region, Ukraine, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at his daughter’s home. Born March 7, 1940, in the Luhansk region of Ukraine, he was the son of the late Konstantin Sakhnovskyi and Julia Chebotaryova.</p><p><br></p><p>A citizen of Ukraine, Ihor came to the United States in April of 2022, fleeing the Russian invasion war in Ukraine, where he had worked as an engineer and then as a director of an industrial enterprise. He studied aviation engineering in Novosibirsk, Russia and industrial management in Kharkiv, Ukraine. He was passionate about genealogical research and family roots, designing and building a house and a boat, sailing on the Dnipro River, gardening, and winemaking. He was a Ukrainian Orthodox Christian.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his former spouse, Dr. Inna Sakhnovska; daughters: Natalia Foil, of Cary, North Carolina, and Yevgeniya Jenny Anderson and son in-law David, of Kearneysville; three grandchildren: Igor Scherbakov, Anna Yaroslava Scherbakova Hodge, and Jay Radchenko, and one grandson, Nikolas Scherbakov.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, Denys Radchenko, and one brother.</p><p>Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with Father Dennis Buck officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
