William Richard (Dick) Lowe

<p>William Richard (Dick) Lowe, 82, of Burlington, died Saturday, March 18, 2023, at his home in Burlington. </p><p>Born March 9, 1941, in Paris, TN, he was the son of Clifford Burns and Minnie Mae Hill Lowe. On July 7, 1972, he married Mary Vorwerk in Oquawka, IL.&nbsp; </p><p>Dick graduated from Grove High School in Paris, TN in 1959. He went on to attend Memphis State for one year, then attended University of Northern Iowa. </p><p>After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 1963 for Business Administration, he worked for EH Shmidt and Associate as their northwest Office Manager and Surveyor. He also worked for Sterzing Food Co as a General Manager, and for C &amp; E Co as a Road Salesman. </p><p>Dick later went to the Appraisal Institute and began a twenty nine year career as a Real Estate Appraiser. He first owned ALM Co, in Greensboro, North Carolina, then in 1991 founded Lowe's Appraisal in Burlington, where he worked for twenty six years. </p><p>He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. </p><p>He held licenses as an Auctioneer, Real Estate Broker, General Contractor and Real Estate Appraiser in the State of North Carolina. Dick also held an Iowa license in appraising. He was a member of the Elks and the Moose and was on the Board of Review and Zoning and Planning. Dick was an avid supporter and member of Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. </p><p>Dick enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, boating and spending a lot of time at the cabin. </p><p>Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Joanne Lowe of Burlington; one son, Michael (Joanne) Lowe of Ocala, FL; and two grandsons, Austin and Logan Lowe. </p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert. </p><p>Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. </p><p>A graveside service will be announced and held at a later date, at Sacred Heart Cemetery. </p><p>A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House and Tunnels for Towers. </p>
