Glenda Mae Willems Obituary

Glenda Mae Vincent Willems, 84, of Windom, Kansas, passed away March 17, 2023, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. She was born April 12, 1938, in Duncan, Oklahoma, the only child of Glenn William and Ettamae Brown Vincent. Glenda has resided in Windom for the majority of her life. She graduated from Windom High School, with the class of 1956. She worked for the Windom Post Office starting as a clerk in 1967 and was named Post Master on June 15, 1991. Glenda retired on December 1, 1997 after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Windom United Methodist Church and was a 60-year member of the Eastern Star in 2016. Glenda enjoyed cooking, reading, needlepoint, sewing and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. On September 1, 1956, Glenda was united in marriage with Henry Eugene Willems in Hutchinson, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2012. She is also preceded in death by her parents. Glenda is survived by her daughter, Debbie Whiteman and husband Sean of Lyons, KS; three sons, Dan Willems and wife Sandra of Windom, KS, Jim Willems and wife Lisa of Farmington, NM, and Tom Willems and wife Laura of Windom, KS; brother-in-law, Lu and Judie Willems of Hesston, KS; ten grandchildren, Hank and Terra Whiteman of Overland Park, KS, Cody Whiteman of Austin, TX, Brandi and Jake Brady of Marquette, KS, Emily Arbuckle and Juan Garcia of Portland, OR, Kyle and Caitlin Arbuckle of Marquette, KS, Whitney and Michael Weaver of Marquette, KS, Rebecca Arbuckle of Kansas City, Amber Willems and Lorne Francisco of Broken Arrow, OK, Jake and Jessamie Willems of Marquette, KS, and Morgan Willems and Rodney Coon of McPherson, KS; thirteen great-grandchildren, Asher Whiteman of Overland Park, KS, Gracie, Kenzie, Liam and Jaycie Brady of Marquette, KS, Nini Garcia of Portland, OR, Adaline Arbuckle of Marquette, KS, Henry and Forrest Weaver of Marquette, KS, Henley Willems of Marquette, KS, and Jaelynn Willems, Annie and Aaron Coon all of McPherson, KS; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Congregational Church, Little River, with Pastor Ted Weis officiating. Burial will follow at the Windom Cemetery, Windom. Memorials may be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
