Jeffery James Jacobs Obituary

Mr. Jeffrey James Jacobs was born on September 19, 1962 in Hartsville, South Carolina to Mr. James M. Jacobs, and Mrs. Minnie DeWitt Jacobs. Drawing his final breath, on Sunday, March 19, 2023, he left a most devastating sting in the hearts of those who loved him most.

Jeffrey was reared in Darlington County, and was educated in the schools of the county as well. At the culmination of his education, he proudly graduated with the Hartsville High School Class of 1980. And in an effort to further his education and increase his access to opportunities, Jeffrey soon after enrolled at Florence-Darlington Tech, and later graduated with the

Class of 1982. Immediately following his postsecondary education, he made the decision to enlist in the Army, in which he valiantly served his country. At the pinnacle of his military career, Jeffrey had received a plethora of awards and acknowledgements, signifying the character and level of service that he radiated in every area of his life. Following his commitment to the United States Armed Forces he received an honorable discharge, and thanks from his country for a successful career. Jeffrey returned home working various jobs as a means of support for his family.

In his adult years, Jeffrey joined The Universal Church of Columbia, South Carolina, where he was a faithful and loving member. Jeffrey was the epitome of “meaning so much, to so many,” and he was never hesitant to make his love for those around him evident.

He not only held true to this practice through words, but through his actions. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family, constantly sharing love through jokes and laughter. When he wasn’t devoting his time and energy to his family, you could find Jeffrey enjoying any of his favorite hobbies: watching his UNC Tarheels, or his Pittsburgh Steelers— both of whom he was a “die-hard” fan. A simple, and loving man, it is beyond the shadow of a doubt that his absence will be felt abroad, especially among those who cherished him most.

Jeffrey is preceded in death by: his father, grandparents.

Now left behind to cherish and continue his legacy of love are: his wife , Mrs. Zipporia Grant Jacobs of Laurens, SC; one son: Mr. Quinton Smith of Fayetteville, NC, Bonus Children: Ms. Quenithia (Kenny) Bush of Laurens, SC, and Mr. Octavious Grant of Laurens, SC; ten grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Jacobs; his sisters: Ms. Yvette (Luther) McPhail of Florence, SC, and Ms. Robin Montgomery of Camden, SC; his brothers: Mr. Charles McClain of Wyandanch, NY, and Mr. Sherman (Bannie) Williams of Hartsville, SC; his mother-inlaw, Ms. Patricia Grant of Cross Hill, SC; other inlaws: Ms. Phebbie Grant of Spartanburg, SC, Ms. Eunivesta Grant of Cross Hill, SC, and Mr. John Grant of Chappel, SC; Goddaughter: Ms. Latrice Jacobs, Timmonsville; God sister: Audra Marine of Hartsville; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, great aunts, great uncles, cousins, other close relatives, and friends who will all need your prayers as they cope with the loss of such a treasure within and without the Jacobs Family
