<p>Mr. Edward Thomas Gooding, 65, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2023, at his home.</p><p><br></p><p> Edward was born in Watertown, NY, on January 12, 1958, the son of Edward and Frances (Pickersgill) Gooding and received his education at Frankfort High School. Edward proudly served in the US Air Force from 1978 until his honorable discharge in 1982. At one time, Edward was employed with Utica National Insurance Company and currently with Securitas Security Services USA. He was an avid Star Trek enthusiast, an avid reader, especially science fiction and history books and loved watching movies. Edward will be remembered as a true gentleman, with a kind heart, who put the needs of others before his own.</p><p><br></p><p> Mr. Gooding is survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Teena and John Courtney of Melbourne, FL, Arlene and Michael Nuber of North Bay, NY and Delores and Brian Olds of Frankfort, NY; six cherished nieces and nephews, Michael Nuber and his wife Shalane, Eric Nuber and his fiancée Morgan Lawless, Jordan Nuber, Justin Courtney and his wife Samantha, Sara Macassi and her husband Renato and Jacob Olds and his wife Saralyn, as well as many adored great nieces and nephews. </p><p><br></p><p> Visitation for family and friends is Friday, March 31, 2023, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by prayers and a time for family and friends to share wonderful memories of Edward. He will be laid to rest with his father in North Bay Cemetery, North Bay, NY at the convenience of the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.</p><p><br></p><p> Mr. Gooding’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Edward’s wonderful neighbors, co-workers and his dear friend Charlie, for the friendship you shared and kindness you showed to Edward over the years.</p>

I was so sorry to hear about Ed. I worked with him at the Faxton Campus and he was always here with a smile on his face helping to make sure our patients and staff were safe. I'll miss seeing him every day. I am keeping your family in my thoughts.
