Neil J Githens Obituary

A smile is the light into the window of your face. “NeilPop” filled his days with a kind smile and his incredible sense of pride and love. This homegrown boy never forgot his roots and believed firmly in the value of hard work. You only live once and there's no easy way to do it but, if you do it right, once is enough. “NeilPop” certainly did it right… He; wept, laughed, watched, prayed, loved, lived, gave thanks, praised; comforted, mended, honored, and remembered.”

For many of us, the last few years have been challenging, uncertain times. Life, as we knew and loved, was hushed quiet, and kept to ourselves. It seemed we had reached an age where life had stopped giving things but was taking them away. But, nothing in this world is forever, not even our problems and not our “NeilPop”.

Neil J. Githens passed away in Camden City, the same place his circle of days had begun back in the fall of ‘39. Mr. Githens spent his formative years in “Heights”. He graduated from Haddon Heights High School, class of ‘57, and remained a loyal Garnet his whole life. Mr. Githens had been a resident of and raised his family in Medford Lakes between 1971 and the end of 1985 where he made many friends as a member of the Odd Couples float group. He enjoyed living life at the Jersey shore in High Bar Harbor, Long Beach Island for 20 years before settling into Marlton. He was an avid gardener and took great pride in tending to the Evesham Community Garden. He made his career as a Mechanical Engineer as the owner-operator of Tami-Githens, Inc. in Woodbridge, NJ. “NeilPop” enjoyed spending time in Sanibel Island, FL where countless memories were made at the Mucky Duck and the Chapel By The Sea. At home, he enjoyed cheering on the Philadelphia “Iggles” and adored his faithful, furry companions; Mollie, Morgan, and Haven.

True love is your soul's recognition of its counterpoint in another. Mr. Githens leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 61 years, Anita (nee Storti) Githens. He is the father of; Jim & his wife Megan and Jennifer & her husband Drew Lynch. “NeilPop” is also survived and will be sadly missed by his grandchildren; Jenna, Allegra, Michael, Neil, and Hallie.
