Harry Insley Obituary

Harry Joseph Insley, Sr. known as Butchie to most, of Nanticoke, MD passed away of natural causes, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at his home. He was 75 years old. Harry was born in Tyaskin, MD and resided most of his life in Nanticoke, MD.


Harry is survived by his wife of 57 years Paula (Ruark) Insley. He is also survived by his four children, T. Insley, (Anna), Daniel Insley (Teressa), Lisa Wilkins (Andy), and David Insley (Becky). Harry loved being a Pop-Pop to Brandon Insley, Nicholas Insley (Amanda), Andrew Insley (Bri), Kyle Insley, Kelsey Flynn, Weston Brown, Jackson Wilkins, Sadie Wilkins, Christian Insley (Trystin), Caitlyn Miller (Lane), Casey Insley (Caleb), and several great-grandchildren.


He is also survived by siblings; Donald “Doley” Insley, Sr. (Shirley), Peggy Downes (Eddie), Linda Pike (Julian), and Jimmy Insley, Sr. (Linda).


Starting at a very young age he was on the water, crabbing and oystering. He continued that his whole life until he passed away. He also farmed in the summer, throughout his life. While in middle school he met his future wife, Paula, and she began working on the water with him soon after. They had their four children, who all worked by their sides while growing up.


Some of the things he enjoyed most were fishing, antiquing, and hunting for old oyster cans. At the end of a long day you would find him watching old westerns. He also enjoyed participating in classic car shows with their 1956 Chevrolet Belair and Boat Docking tournaments.


He was proceeded in death by his parents, Herman Clifford Insley, Sr. and Hilda (Horseman) Insley, along with siblings; Evelyn “Blanch” Baker, Herman Clifford Insley, Jr., Catherine (Jumbo) Booker, Helen Darby, and Mary Jane Adkins Cockey (Rusty).


A Celebration of Life and Fellowship will be held at the Westside Volunteer Fire House, Bivalve, MD at 2 pm, Sunday, March 26, 2023. All are welcome to attend.
