James "Pete" Earnest McCormick Obituary

James “Pete” Earnest McCormick, 94, of Rensselaer, Indiana, passed away on March 17, 2023, peacefully in his sleep.


Pete was born on March 6, 1929, to Benjamin and Barsha McCormick. Pete is survived by his loving wife, Janet McCormick, of 69 years. Pete was known to have loved the great outdoors and was an avid gardener. Pete was happiest when he was working on his lawn or watching the birds. He was a quiet man, one of few words, but one who loved his family deeply. Pete was a proud retiree of Inland Steel.


Pete is survived by his son James McCormick and is preceded into eternal rest by his daughter Linda Schroeder (spouse Steven). He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Gregory Schroeder, Jennifer Brucks (spouse Robert), Justin Schroeder (partner Heather Schuelke), Robyn McCormick (partner Bryan Wilson), and Stefany Anderson (spouse Jake). He enters into eternal rest leaving 7 great-grandchildren here on earth. Pete is preceded into rest by his siblings Junior, Roy, Mary, Evelyn, Nell, and Willburn and is remembered here on earth by siblings Jewel, Jean and Betty.


Services for James “Pete” Earnest McCormick will be held on Thursday March 23 at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer.

Services are as follows: Visitation will be from 12noon until 2pm CST, Funeral Service to follow beginning at 2 pm; No internment following services. Sharon Rostad and Kevin Naillieux officiating.
