Mrs. Debbie Courtney Staley, 67, of Hogansville, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Emory Midtown Hospital in Atlanta.
Debbie was born December 10, 1955, in Newnan, daughter of the late James Benjamin “Jimmy” Courtney and Novelene Denney Courtney. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, she was a talented floral designer, owned and operated Flower Garden and Gifts for more than 35 years, and also retired as truck shop administrator for the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in LaGrange. Debbie was a very generous person and was always willing to give her time, talent, and financial assistance to numerous school, church, youth, and civic causes in the area.
Survivors include her best friend who she considered a sister, Kitty Dopp; daughter and son in-law, Ashley and John Gaddy; son and daughter in-law, Derick and Marcy Staley, all of Hogansville; was Grammy to River Staley, Hunter Gaddy and his wife Wesleigh, Walker Staley, Houston Gaddy; and great-grandchildren, Hadleigh Tubbs and Aspen Staley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James C. “Buster” Courtney.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 20, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Randall Hodge and Pastor Greg Morris will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
