Obituary for Marlon Simeon Durity

Marlon Simeon Durity, age 49, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at his home in Irmo, South Carolina. He was born March 20,1973 in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago to Simeon and Merlene Durity.

Marlon immigrated to the United States with his family as a child. He attended elementary school at San Fernando Boys’ Roman Catholic School (Trinidad). He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, Brooklyn, New York. He entered the United Sates Army on 3 June 1992 and rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class. SFC Durity served as a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic, spent two years as an Army Recruiter, and served as a Platoon Sergeant in Iraq 2007-2008 and 2010-2011. He retired from the Army in 2014 after 22 years of service. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Commendation Awards, and six Army Achievement Medals. He battled traumatic brain injury sustained in the Iraq war.

Marlon was a lover of nature and animals. He had a smile that would light up the room. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning a farm. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and grandson teaching them everything he knew about nature and farming. He will always be remembered as a man of God and a true patriot. He was also proud for his West Indian roots and proudly flew the Trinidad flag on his farm. Marlon deeply loved his family and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived in death by his parents, Simeon Durity and Merlene Durity (Trotman), son Jadon Durity, daughter Cierra Durity, grandson Moses, sisters, Cherryl Joann (Michael) Rice, Dianne Durity, and Keena Durity. Uncles, Errol Ince, Conrad De’Abreau, Trevor Trotman, John Durity, Bridget Durity, and Clarence (Merlin) Durity. Aunts, Janice Knights, Patricia Selvon, Anne Trotman, and Kathleen Durity. As well as nephews, Keith, Jonathan, Robert, nieces Aliyah, Christina and Karen, and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation from 4-7 pm, Service at 7pm on Tuesday 28th March 2023 4-7 pm @ Epiphany Lutheran Church, 721 Lincoln Place, Brooklyn, New York 11216

Funeral Wednesday @ Epiphany Lutheran Church @ 10:00 am

Military Service (Interment) Friday @ 1pm 2040 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735
