Brett Wayne Mueller Obituary

Brett Wayne Mueller, 47, left his earthly life on Thursday morning March 16th, 2023, after a sudden heart episode.

Brett was born September 25, 1975, in Norton KS. Shortly after birth, he was adopted by Gary and Linda Mueller of Garden City KS.

Brett had a wonderful childhood growing up with his parents, siblings, cousins and a host of family friends and special neighbors, with fond memories camping, fishing, and working on cars with his dad. He also loved playing basketball & baseball, riding bicycles and later four wheelers all over Garden City with his friends.

Brett attended Garden City Schools where he made his first best friends, whom have all remained close to this day. Those, along with friends he made later in life, are all considered his brothers, his family. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1995 where he played varsity basketball for 4 years and loved every minute. After high school, he attended Longview technical college in Kansas City MO, and became a certified Ford master mechanic and returned home to work for his uncle Lonnie at Burtis Motors. He was a brilliant mechanic his entire life, fixing literally anything under a hood from cars to heavy equipment. In 2004 he went to work for his father-in-law Dan Kraus at D&K Environmental where he ran enormous 60’ arm Link-Belt excavators and did so until the day before his death. He was a relentless worker, and he very rarely missed a 12-15 hour day of work, but always pulled in the drive with a big smile and a bear hug for his girls and dogs.

Brett married Kari Kraus on May 4, 2002, at Plymell Union Church and then proceeded to begin the Mueller Sorority, welcoming 3 Daughters Gracie (19) Ruby (16) Stella (12) His family was his heart and he doted on his daughters, working tirelessly to give them the best life. In 2020 Brett and Kari Officially took over the family business, and Brett was so very proud.

In 2018, Brett successfully found his Birth Mother Dana (Wyatt) Lefebvre, Moses Lake WA. From the first time reunited, his heart was complete. He was so happy to be welcomed into an entire new family who had been waiting for him with open arms and love, and he loved getting to spend time getting to know each of them.

Most of all, Brett loved being a dad and spending time with them camping, doing house projects, hunting deer, and watching all their activities. When he was out of town he constantly texted for updates, scores, and videos. He loved each of the girls’ large group of friends and considered them all “his” kids-he loved them as his own and loved having them filling the house. He also had an enormous group of lifetime buddies new and old that he loved and was always in contact with. These boys young and old meant the world to him. Brett was also a passionate member of Plymell Church and was the happiest he has ever been after beginning to study the Bible which was always with him next to his bed at home, in the hotels and on the dash of his truck.

Though he will be terribly missed by all his loved ones, each of them has the best memories burned into their hearts and are forever grateful to God for weaving him so beautifully into their lives.

Survivors include his wife Kari and girls Gracie, Ruby & Stella, of the home. Parents Kenny & Dana Lefebvre, Linda Mueller, Grandfather Clair Wyatt, Brothers Eric Hansen, Corey & Cameron Lefebvre, & Josh Mueller, Sisters Shelly Mueller, & Nicole Hansen, Mother and Father in laws Dan & Kathy Kraus, Brother and Sister in laws Susanne & Jason Kitten, Dave & Amy McGrath, Mike & Paige Kraus, and a beautiful bunch of nieces and nephews Emma and Jeb Kitten, Carson and Reece Kraus, Danni and Thomas McGrath, Jayden and Haylee Amrhein, & Oliver Lefebvre.
