David Grant Boyle, 70, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023 in Jacksonville, Florida after a brief illness.  He was born in Baltimore, Md on June 18, 1952 to William Aloysius, Jr. and Ruth Catherine (Krauk) Boyle and lived in Dundalk, Md where he graduated from Dundalk Senior High School in 1970.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gail Smith Boyle; one child: Tristan Boyle of Ocean Pines, Md; brother: William Boyle III of Baltimore, Md.; sister-in-law: Rachel Adcock of Pasadena, Md; nieces: Susan Mackenzie, Michele McCoy, Melody Pearson; nephews: William Robert Boyle, Brad McCoy, Cory Pearson, and Benjamin McRobie.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Boyle and sister-in-law, Joyce McRobie.

David was a graduate of Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Md  earning a BS in Chemistry.  After graduation he taught Physics and Chemistry at Linganore High School in Frederick County, Md.  A few years later, he worked as a chemist for the Federal Government at the General Services Administration (GSA) in Washington, DC.  David was internationally renowned as an expert in water treatment and Legionnaire’s Disease.  He retired from International ChemStar (Baltimore, Md) where he was President for over 20 years and Amchem Solutions (Selbyville, De) where he was also President and CEO.  David had more than 40 years experience in cooling water, boiler water and reuse water technology.  He had extensive knowledge and expertise relative to Legionnaires’ disease.  David was a member of the Association of Water Technologies and the Cooling Technology Institute.  David specialized in corrosion, scale and microbiological problem solving, treatment selection and system startups.  David was well known and loved for his exceptional honesty, humor, kindness and generosity.  This not only made him a good salesman and businessman but a wonderful friend.

As a young boy, he spent many summers in Ocean City , Md with his family and developed a love for the ocean and beach.  Always drawn to the water, having a boat gave him great pleasure so wherever he lived a boat was in the picture.  Retiring to Delaware and living on the Assawoman Bay was the next logistical step in his life.  David was always the captain of his boat.
