Jerry Dean Moody, Sr. Obituary

Jerry Dean Moody, Sr., 82, of Robinson, IL, passed away on March 18, 2023, at Robinson Rehab & Nursing. He was born on March 2, 1941, in Sullivan, IN, the son of Clint Moody & Virginia (Pinkston) Moody, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice Voigt, who passed away on February 16, 2021.

He is survived by his sons, Dean Moody and Dan & Cheri Moody; his daughters, Jennifer Sweeney and Jolene & Shane Bell; and by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

By all accounts, Jerry loved cars. He was especially fond of racing and attended innumerable races through the years. In fact, he even helped run sprint cars! During NASCAR season, he could often be found rooting for Kevin Harvick or Tony Stewart. When the fall rolled around, he rooted for his beloved Indianapolis Colts alongside his best friend and four-legged companion, Lucky. An avid sports fan, Jerry also followed baseball, basketball, and especially professional wrestling. When a game or race wasn't on, he'd make his way outdoors, where he enjoyed taking in the fresh air. Jerry would find any and every opportunity to go outside, be that to mow his yard, weed eat, mushroom hunt, or pick up pop cans. He also delivered newspapers for a time.

Jerry Moody was a down-to-earth, good-hearted man who taught us how to value the little things in life. We are thankful for the gift of his memory, which we will cherish for as long as we have the breath to speak his name.

It was Jerry's wish to be cremated, and the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of these arrangements.
