<p>Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother Alice Stuart Hall and brothers Eugene and Francis. She is survived by her cousins Kathleen Williams, David Lilly (Laurie), Stuart Michael Lilly (Janet), Melanie Johnson (Curtis), David Lilly (Sarah), Jenna and Beth Lilly, Megan Johnson, and Michael Lilly. Dorothy is also survived by many friends, especially the Barrett family.</p><p><br></p><p>Born and raised in Brooklyn, Dorothy worked in Manhattan, Waterbury, Connecticut, and settled in Chevy Chase, Maryland in 1983. After a career in banking operations, she retired to pursue her dream of a college degree at Montgomery College. She earned an Associate Arts Degree in Business Administration.</p><p><br></p><p>Dorothy loved to read, cook, travel, and volunteer. She was fiercely independent and loved classical music and movies. She reveled in her visits to Japan, Mexico, Great Britain, and Hungary. She liked to tell the story of how she sailed to Japan in a typhoon and was stuck in her cabin for three days! She was active at Friendship Heights Community Center and volunteered serving afternoon teas at Sunrise Living Center at Brighton Gardens.</p><p><br></p><p>Dorothy believed in and supported the work of the USO, VFW, Montgomery College Foundation, PBS, WAMU, the Democratic Party and many other charities including local food banks and theaters.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Dorothy's name.</p>
