Brent 'Red' Bofenkamp Obituary

    Brent Steven Bofenkamp, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Red, as he was known to friends, was born on October 12, 1939, and grew up in Wallace, Idaho, before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He served our country from 1958 until his retirement as a CWO-4 in 1984. After retirement, Brent worked with missile and radar systems for several government defense contractors. An avid bowler, he was a member of and director in the Alabama Bowling Association and was inducted into the Huntsville USBC Association Bowling Hall of Fame.


    Brent is survived by his wife, Dot; children, Michael Bofenkamp (Karen), Susanne Winter (Stan), and Brent Bofenkamp (Wendy); brothers, Steve Bofenkamp (Nikki), Dan Bofenkamp (Stacie) and John Bofenkamp (Chris); sister-in-law, Patti DiPretore; and his grandchildren Jackson, Hudson, and Page Bofenkamp, and Kinley Grace Winter. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Alfred and Margaret Bofenkamp, and sisters, Patricia Bofenkamp and Barbara Kiser.


    Visitation will be on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. Internment will immediately follow at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Downtown Rescue Mission of Huntsville or the Huntsville Humane Society.
