Edward R. "Ed" "Sonny" Vaughan

<p>Edward R. “Sonny” “Ed” Vaughan, age 90 of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Symphony at Centerville. He was born on July 20, 1932, in Charleston, WV, the son of the late Raymond Vaughan &amp; Martha (Hartley) Click. &nbsp; </p><p>Mr. Vaughan honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired “Tool Crib” employee for General Motors with 30 years of service; and was a realtor for Executive Reality for over 20 years. Ed was the manager for the Delco Moraine Softball Team, in 1969 and 1971 he and his team were the World Industrial Tournament winners and Ed was given the honor of being placed in the Dayton Softball Hall of Fame. He was a player for the Dayton Triangles Football team, and avid golfer &amp; bowler. Ed was a fan of all sports, he loved the Cincinnati Bengal’s, Cincinnati Reds, and Ohio State Football. &nbsp; </p><p>Preceded in death by his first wife Gloria (Rosell) Vaughan on March 18, 2009, 2 brother Denver &amp; Jack Vaughan, and by 3 sisters Dorothy Jean Musgrove, Geneva Vaughn &amp; June “Sandy” Palizzi. </p><p>He is survived by his wife Frances (Williams) Vaughan, his 2 sons Dale Vaughan and wife Bonnie &amp; Douglas Vaughan and wife Jane, his 2 step-children Frank ‘Eddie” Swafford and wife Denisa, &amp; Susan Key, his sister Ruthann Scearce, ½ brother Denny Vaughan, 4 grandchildren Anthony ‘Tony” Vaughan and wife Tina, Jennifer McLaughlin and husband Jason, Terrence “Terry” Vaughan and wife Audrey, and Thomas “Tom” Vaughan, 4 great grandchildren Jeremiah Vaughan and wife Jazmine, Justin James Vaughan, Layla Vaughan, and Divine Vaughan, 2 great great grandsons Jaxon &amp; Joseph “Joey” Vaughan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. </p><p>Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton with Rev. Dr. Joel Getts officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted by the Combined Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (2 hours prior to service) on Saturday at the funeral home. </p><p>If so desired memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Mr. Vaughan’s memory.
