MAYODAN– Steve Vaden, 77, left this earthly life on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randy Jessup officiating. Interment will follow in the Mayodan Municipal Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison and all other times at the home of Jennifer Vaden Holt, 710 Roach Street, Mayodan.

Mr. Vaden was born on January 24, 1946 in Rockingham County to the late Reuben Vaden, Sr. and Louise Shaffer Vaden. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and worked many years alongside his father and brother with Vaden’s Roofing. Steve was an enthusiastic LA Dodgers and UNC Tar Heels fan and enjoyed watching Walker Texas Ranger. His greatest joy in life was being “Poppy Steve” and attending any sporting or school event that his grandchildren were participating in.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, of fifty years, Brenda Cure Vaden; brother, Randy “Vada” Vaden and sister-in-law, Janice Joyce Vaden.

Survivors include his daughters, Meredith Vaden Price (Kevin) and Jennifer Vaden Holt (Harold); grandchildren, Nicholas Price (Kristina), Brady Price and Natalie Holt and many special extended family members and friends.

The family wishes to thank Randy Jessup for his constant friendship and support to Steve and family throughout the years.
