Oksana Styn Winter

<p>Oksana was born in Horlytsi, Ukraine, on June 4, 1941, to Mykola Styn (choir director) and Katrusia Hodyk. They wanted a nice life.&nbsp; Soon there were two daughters and the family had to face harsh realities, to flee the war with the children- war refugees.&nbsp; Oksana went with her family to a refugee camp in Salzburg, Austria.&nbsp; Emigrating to the US in May, 1948, on the ship “Marine Jumper,” the &nbsp;sisters were photographed in round porthole windows for the New York Post. </p><p>The family settled in Youngstown, Ohio, where her father worked in steel mills and conducted several area church choirs to provide for a family of seven, including five daughters. </p><p>Oksana graduated from high school at St. Basil’s Academy, in Philadelphia, in 1959. &nbsp;She graduated from Youngstown State University and then worked for the Red Cross, where she met Kenneth Winter, whom she married.&nbsp; Their son Gregory was born in 1967.&nbsp; After Ken’s death, Oksana stayed in Detroit continuing her biofeedback business, her love of painting, reading, making jewelry until her sudden death February 14, 2023 </p><p>Oksana will be laid to rest in the family burial plot on Easter Monday, April 10 at noon at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, 314 W. Church Rd., King of Prussia, near Philadelphia.. </p><p>She is survived by her loving son, Gregory Winter, and four sisters, Orysia Hewka (husband Peter), Marusia Dombchewsky (husband Leo), Marta Nadia Charnick (husband Bob) and Jaroslava (Lalia) Lonchyna (husband Very Rev. Taras) with their families.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Oksana be made to UUARC for special hospital generators for war torn Ukraine, or to Ukrainian Radio Philadelphia of UECC.&nbsp; These donations can be mailed c/o Dr. and Mrs. Peter Hewka, 1606 Johnson Rd., Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. </p><p>Вічна її память!&nbsp; Хай з Богом спочиває! </p>
