Edward Wodzicki Obituary

Edward Wodzicki, 98, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Cecylia passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16th at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Gostynin, Poland, son of the late Stefan and Eleanora Wodzicki and was predeceased by brother Marian and sister Jadwiga of Poland. Besides his wife of 65 years, he leaves a son Edward Wodzicki and wife Mary of Rocky Hill, daughter Teresa and husband Bill Walton of New Jersey; his cherished grandchildren, Kayla, Cristina, Lianna & John. Step grandchildren: Katherine Leonard (Nick), Kristin Flynn (Kevin), Kelly Karwowski (Troy) plus 6 step great grandchildren and many other relatives in the United States and Poland.


During World War II, Edward was taken as a teenager from his home to work as forced labor in Germany. After his liberation, he served for the U.S. Army and immigrated to the United States in 1950. Edward was employed at Mal Tool & Engineering for 26 years. He was member of the Polish Army Veterans Association of America (PAVA) Post 119 and he received a Commemorative medal of the 100th Anniversary of the Association of Veterans of the Polish Army in America. He was a long-time member of the Polish National Home and a communicant of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford.


We would like to thank Hartford Hospital and their Hospice team for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the SS. Cyril & Methodius Church Restoration Fund, 55 Charter Oak Ave., Hartford, CT 06106. Funeral Services will be private.
