KOZODY, Alma, Maria – Peacefully at Vision Nursing Home, Alma Kozody died on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Michael (2006). Mother of Richard. Sister of Erwin Walat (Ann), Maine and Helmut Walat (Aidona), Massachusetts. Also missed by her extended family and friend of 65 years, Mary Hagemann and Mary’s family Stephanie Hagemann, Stephen Hagemann, Michael Hagemann Jr and Cynthia Hagemann Blair & their children. Mary’s family fondly referred Alma as their Chocha (Aunt). Predeceased by her parents Andreas & Martha Walat, her brother Emil (Irma) and sister Anna Gross (Fritz).

Alma started her career working as an assistant to nurses at Victoria Hospital in Montreal. Moving to Sarnia she married the love of her life Mike. Alma worked in the dietary department at Sarnia General Hospital for 30 years. She was a member of St. George’s Ukrainian Church. Alma loved her cats and was an advocate for all animals. Her generosity and dedication to her loved ones will never be forgotten. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff on the 2nd floor at Vision Nursing Home for their compassionate care of Alma.

Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. where Panakhyda will be offered at 6:30 p.m. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Sarnia Humane Society or charity of choice.
