Josephine Banks of Letcher county, Kentucky passed away on her 90th birthday on March 17, 2023. Josephine, known by those she loved as Fenie, was born in 1933 to James and Ida Stallard Banks in Ice, KY. Josephine was a believer in Christ and was proud to call Him her Savior.

Josephine loved unconditionally. She loved her family and devoted her life to caring for others. She cared for her mother until she passed away and in many ways was an extended mother to many of her nieces and nephews. She loved animals and cared for every sick or stray animal that needed her. Josephine enjoyed being in nature and raising a garden; nothing made her happier than sharing her produce with friends and neighbors. She loved flowers, plants, trees, and all of God’s creation.

Josephine was proceeded in death by her parents, James and Ida Stallard Banks, and her ten siblings: Harlan Clay Banks, Elsie Aouate, James Banks, Elizabeth Bolling, Rosa Tyree, Charles Banks, Billy Kay Banks, Jackson Banks, and infants Melissa Banks and Chalice Banks. She was also proceeded in death by her nephew, Henry Aouate, and her niece, Neddy Reed. She is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own children, a special cousin Doris, and dear friend Kathy Niece.
