Allen J. Gula passed away on March 17, 2023 in his hometown of North Canton, Ohio. His battle with cancer and serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Allen came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. Allen was born on April 29, 1932 and raised in Lorain, Ohio by his late parents Joseph and Mary (Kosmo) Gula. After leaving the homestead, Allen began his journey serving in the Navy for four years on the ship USS CONY-DDE508 in the Korean War. Upon coming home, Allen married his high school love, the late, Maureen (Fout) Gula, his wife of 58 years. They raised six children, Allen Gula Jr. (late, Marilyn), the late, David Gula, the late, Dennis Gula, Tim Gula (Jean), Allynn Stallings and Dawn Heidinger (Scott).

Allen worked many jobs including owning his own garage before moving into his career as a Safety Engineer at BF Goodrich, Massillon Community Hospital and Akron General Hospital. Once retiring, Allen spent his days working odd jobs, helping others and perfecting his skills to have the most meticulous lawn and landscape. In his last few years Allen treasured the time he spent with his special friend, Ruth Horning.

Allen was a loving husband, family man and an amazing father and grandfather to six, Shannon Gula, Jacquelin Verrico, Josh (Loretta) Gula, Amanda Gula, Jamie Gula and Zachary Stallings and great grandfather to five. Allen did share a very special bond with his grandson Zac with whom he loved to go to all of his sporting events, doing wood working projects, giving fatherly advice and just being there for Zac.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday March 23, 2023 at 11am at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church (3430 St. Michael Dr. NW, Canton, OH 44718). Calling hours will be Wednesday March 22, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm at Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON Chapel (801 Pittsburg Ave. NW, North Canton, OH 44720).
