Graveside Services for Mrs. Martha Kerr Powell, age 70 of Ashland, will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Noel Vickers officiating. There will be no public visitation prior to services.

Mrs. Powell passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Clay County, graduate of Clay County High School, and worked at various sewing plants before attending nursing school. She graduated and worked as a Registered Nurse for many years, working with Home Health, the Clay County Nursing Home, and primarily at the Clay County Hospital. Mrs. Powell enjoyed crocheting and quilting, riding horses, and was an avid Alabama fan. Mrs. Powell was a well-trained and respected nurse, and was always caring and helpful to those in need. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her two children: Loni Mitchell (Ben) of Trussville and Bradley Powell of Ashland; three granddaughters: Emma Grace, Hadley, and Fallon Mitchell; her mother, Ida Mae Kerr of Ashland; two brothers: Charles Michael “Mike” Kerr (Peggy) and Robert Randall Kerr (Angelia), both of Ashland; her sister-in-law, Jackie Kerr of Bentonville, AR, plus other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Kerr; her husband, Wayne Powell; and her brother, William Frank Kerr.

Aaron Gortney, Patrick Gortney, Nick Kennedy, Brian Denney, Kyle Denney, and Kevin Powell will serve as pallbearers.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
