Donna Rae Taylor Obituary

Memorial services for Donna Rae Taylor, of Monroe, LA, will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 at 6:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until time of service.

Donna was born December 9, 1948 and passed away on March 14, 2023. Donna was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, who loved her family, friends, and her dogs. She attended First Baptist Church in West Monroe, where she was connected to a women’s life group with whom she shared her love for the Lord. It would come as no surprise to those who knew of her love of the Lord to hear that her home is full of devotionals, various Bible versions, prayer journals, and notes from Bible study lessons. We are all blessed that she openly shared her love of the Lord with anyone. She worked as a paralegal for Larry Mullens at North Delta Title Company and Bayou Desiard Title Company for 44 years. Donna was a gifted artist, writer, and musician to name a few of her many talents. She touched the hearts of so many through her creative drawings, coloring, and artwork. Her artwork was intricate, colorful, and expressed her wonderful spirit. She shared her love for writing in her first published book for children, still in print, titled “How Teddy Hedgehog Found His Heart”. Donna taught herself to play blues and country music on the harmonica, driven by her passion for entertaining in the local music scene with her late husband Denny Taylor and the Dixie Rockers Band.

Donna graduated from West Monroe High School, Class of ’66. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies from ULM and was a member of Phi Alpha Theta International Council, a society that recognized history scholars. She was also a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, as well as The Omicron Delta Kappa Society. She continued her education further studying pre-law at LSU. Donna’s “gift of gab”, her genuine kindness, and her extreme generosity will be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Denny Fay Taylor; and her father, Alfred Randall Roberts. Donna is survived by her mother, Evelyn Eileen Roberts; children, John (Nicole Tidwell) Briley, and Keith Taylor; grandchildren, Kory (Britteny) Briley, Lauren Briley, and Jada Nicole Platt; great-grandchildren, Balleigh Briley, McKenzie Briley, and Abigail Briley; siblings and their spouses, Randy and Sheila Roberts, John and Mary Roberts, Mick Roberts Ferrer & Dr. Jose Ferrer, and Eileen Roberts Ralston and Dr. Jacky Ralston; and nieces and nephews, Sondra Roberts Evans, Stacy Roberts, Duanette Roberts Tendall, Christy Roberts, Johnny and Reed Roberts, BJ and Josh Triplett, Lyndsey Triplett Fuchs, Ashley Triplett Swift, Brittney Triplett, Jessica Ralston Lizeby, and Al and Caleb Ralston.
