Dorothy Leone VanDenBerg

Dorothy Leone (Morgan) VanDenBerg, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, March 16, 2023. She was born on August 19, 1929, in Fond du Lac, WI to Harry and Anna (Huberty) Morgan.

She graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1948. She would meet the love of her life at the local fair, the result of a losing coin flip. But we know who the real winner was. Dorothy married James Melvin VanDenBerg on May 2, 1953, at St John Catholic Church in Green Bay. Sadly, Jim passed away in 2002, but the love for family and friends kept her heart full. She spent her time cheering on the Packers (really all sports), reading, doing puzzles, crosswords, traveling with family and friends and her adventures with the Knick-Knack Chicks.

She is survived by her children: Judy (Dave) Louis, Jeff (Debra) VanDenBerg, Denise (Terry) Denny. Daughter-In-Law Diane VanDenBerg. Her grandchildren: Katie (Cory), Kacie, Christine, Loren, Heather (Chris), Kristin, Jacob, James (Leah), Shelby, Steele, Terry (Danna), DeCarlo, Jessica (Jeff), and Nicole. Great-Grandchildren: David, Hudson, Cody, Hayley, Ethan, Brianna, Alexis, Grayson, Carter, Martha, Alaina, Davanya, Serenity, Raylee, James, Austin, Jolee, Culture, Kayla, Colin, Adam, Dylan, and great great granddaughter Arianna. She is survived by her sister, Ann (Ralph) Abts and sisters-in-laws, Shirley Morgan, and Carol (Don) Smith. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim, sons, David and Jimmy, her parents Harry and Anna, one sister, 8 brothers, their spouses, her in-laws John and Marguerite VanDenBerg, and Jim’s brothers, sisters, and their spouses.

Friends may call at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Van’s Valley from 9:00AM – 10:45AM on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Burial to follow at the parish cemetery. To honor Dorothy’s love for her Packers, please wear your Packer attire. Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Court at Eden Vista, Traci with ProMedica Hospice for their compassion, care, and friendship in the last days of mom’s life.

Mom, Love Ya!
