<p>Mr. James Edward Hooper, Sr., 80, of Carthage, Missouri, departed this life on Friday morning, March 17, 2023, at St. Luke’s Care Center in Carthage, Missouri.<br></p><p><br></p><p>James entered this life on March 8, 1943, in Jasper, Missouri, born to the union of the late Hannibal and Maydean (Armstrong) Hooper. He was raised in Jasper and has resided the majority of his adult life in Carthage. He was employed by Carthage Crushed Limestone for several years and most recently by Schreiber Foods. On December 7, 1991, he was united in marriage to Diana Sue Russell and together they have shared the last thirty-one years. He enjoyed word puzzles, fishing, bowling and visiting area restaurants. James was a faithful member of Grace Pointe Assembly of God in Carthage.</p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Hooper; and an infant sister, Dorothy Hooper.</p><p><br></p><p>James is survived by his wife, Diana Hooper of the home; a son, James Hooper, Jr. of Carthage; a niece, Cindy Moore of Alba, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Nashville Cemetery in Nashville, Missouri, with Pastor Jeremiah Johnson officiating.&nbsp; The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.</p><p><br></p>
