Magdalene Marie Bechal passed away at Medicine Hat, AB on March 17, 2023, beloved wife of the late Emil Bechal, at the age of 86 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Norman (Lily) Hammel, Carol (Dan) Schiebelbein, Richard (Jackie) Hammel, Leonard (Janice) Hammel, Glen (Brenda) Hammel, and Shirley (Larry) Wagner; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Magdalene was predeceased by her parents, Adam and Rosie Rieder; daughter, Diann Simpson, and brother, Leo (Mary) Rieder.

Maggie's pride and joy were her children, especially all of her grandchildren, special niece Wanda Rieder, and her many friends. Mom was a wonderful cook and baker. She loved to garden and definitely loved family gatherings. Her family was her most cherished treasure. Many thanks to Dr. Martin Wong for his numerous years of care of Mom. We are very grateful and appreciative of the staff at Meadowlands Assisted Living, to the doctors and all staff on 4 West Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, and Carmel Hospice St. Joseph's Home.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB on Monday, March 20th from 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 10:00 am with private family graveside service to follow.
