Mack Horace Jones passed away on March 12, 2023 at the age of 94. He was born and raised on a tobacco farm in Willow Springs, North Carolina. He was one of eight children and spent his early years working on the farm with all of his siblings. As a young adult, he and two of his brothers, Bill and Bob, followed their oldest brother Ken to the island of Guam. There he set up camp and helped start a successful business. It was there, Mack met the love of his life Dolores who he wedded and raised 3 beautiful children on the island. During his 30 incredible years on Guam, he worked for his brother Ken at Jones and Guerrero (J&G), retiring as Vice-President managing the retail enterprises of Town House Department Store, the J&G furniture store and the duty free shops at the airport and Guam Hilton. At the age of 52, Mack moved back to the states and for the next 30+ years would live between Arizona and North Carolina. In 2016, Mack and Dolores moved to the island of Maui with their daughter Christine. Shortly after the move, Dolores took ill and passed. Although broken hearted, Mack continued on ... Though a very successful business man, Mack was a family man first. He celebrated his early retirement by taking the entire family on a trip around the world. He always loved a good meal, and when asked where did the food on his plate go; he would say “Gone” with a slight southern accent. He loved family poker, coconut cake, Gunsmoke and participating in monthly family zooms which brought him great joy seeing his great granddaughter Reagan. He enjoyed the game of golf playing religiously every Wednesday and Sunday during his prime. Mack and Dolores celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on the island of Maui just prior to her passing. Their final resting place, side by side, is on a hillside overlooking the north shore of Maui. Mack is survived by is his sister Mary Estelle Lawrence; brother Robert H. Jones and wife Pilar Laguana Jones; daughters Christine Jones and husband Bill Boswell and Betty Jones and husband Larry Dreyer; daughter-in-law Juliette Jones; grandsons Roque Santos and Thomas Jones; and great granddaughter Reagan Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Thomas Jones and China Christiana Blalock; wife Dolores Mesa Jones and son Thomas Jones; brothers James Watson Jones, Kenneth Thomas Jones, Bill Jones and wife Shirley Jones; sisters Georgia Stafford and Ruth Hartsell; and sister-in-law Margaret Jones.
