Steven Carl DiSilvester Florissant, Missouri Obituary

Steve

Steven Carl DiSilvester passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 13th 2023. He was 70 years young.

Son of the late Carl A. DiSilvester and Vera DiSilvester (nee Hancock) and devoted brother of the late Janet Alvernia.

His memory lives on with his faithful wife, Gail DiSilvester (nee Irby), daughters Sarah Jones (Chris) and Laura DiSilvester and his grandson, Waylon Vance. He was a loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend. The family is shocked and devastated by his untimely passing.

To his closest friends, he was known as Diesel. A nickname that aptly described his large personality, his sense of humor, and his ability to speak his mind. Whether or not you agreed with him. He unfailingly made nightly phone calls to torment his grandson, and bullshit with friends about the day's events.

He was a proud Army Veteran, who served during the Vietnam War.

His hobbies included model railroading and collecting car memorabilia. On nice days, you could always find him riding his motorcycle. Many of these trips took him to Defiance, where he met up with his cronies. He also had an unwavering commitment to watching wrestling (often to the chagrin of his wife and family).

A visitation will be held on March 19th, 2023 from 2-6 p.m at Hutchens Mortuary & Cremation Center, 675 Graham Road, Florissant, MO. All family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or The American Heart Association.

Updated Information: Everyone is invited to attend a graveside service followed by Full Military Honors on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Ave, St. Louis, MO. Everyone is to gather on the office parking lot by 9:45 AM which is the building to the right when you enter the cemetery entrance.

When I was in the 3rd grade, Steve married my mom. He stepped in as a father figure when my own father had chosen not to be around at all, and for that I am grateful.

Say not in grief ‘he is no more’ but in thankfulness that he was. Dad, you will be forever missed. Thank you for all the life lessons and raising me to be the independent woman I am. I love you.
