Esther Castro

Esther Castro, 100, of Colonial Heights went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Born on January 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Rosa Gouveia, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Castro.

Esther was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, where she found great comfort and solace in her faith. One of Esther's greatest passions was her love for her fur babies. She had a special place in her heart for all animals, and her home was always filled with the love of her beloved pets. She was also known for her love of food, and no matter what would always have her three meals a day. In her free time, Esther enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Above all, Esther was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She adored her family and always put their needs before her own. Her love and guidance will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Rosa M. Morris and husband, Joseph Morris, Jr.; grandsons, Joseph Morris III and wife, Tracie, Scott Morris and wife, Jennifer, Jeremy Morris and wife, Amanda, Jonathan Morris and wife, Deborah; granddaughter, Ann Viera and husband, Paul; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and other extended family members.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023 in St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Hwy, South Chesterfield, VA 23834. Interment will follow in St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday night, March 22, 2023 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
