<p>David Thomas Doeringsfeld (90) passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023.&nbsp;<br> <br> He was born at the family farm on November 2, 1932 to Amos and Ruth Doeringsfeld in Groton, South Dakota. &nbsp;In his early years, he helped on the family farm&nbsp;and worked at Amos’s Corner Truck Stop. David&nbsp;graduated from Groton High School in 1950. He&nbsp;enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952. David served&nbsp;as a crew chief working on jet fighters in the Korean&nbsp;War. He married Iris Joyce Albrecht on December&nbsp;26, 1954 in Aberdeen, SD. After finishing his second tour of duty in Korea and a stent working for a plane manufacturer in California, David and Iris moved to Groton in 1957. He owned and operated Amos’s Corner and Café until 1973. During this time, they had three children, David, Michael and Vickie. </p><p><br> In 1978, the family moved to Minot, ND where he served as General Manager for Degelman Industries, U.S. Operations, a Canadian manufacturer of farm equipment. David and Iris were able to travel extensively in Europe, Brazil and the Middle East expanding new markets for Degelman Industries. He retired in 1995. </p><p><br> David and Iris retired briefly in Sioux Falls, SD and then moved to Mesa, AZ in 1997. Iris passed away in 1998. They were married 44-years. </p><p><br> David moved back to Sioux Falls in 2005. In 2006, David met Marjorie Ecker and after that they were always together. She cared for him until his passing. Marge was an angel to David and the family. </p><p><br> David was a 67-year member of the Masonic and Shrine fraternities. He also belonged to the York Rite and Royal Order of Jesters. He was a Past Master of the Groton Masonic Lodge. </p><p><br> Other organizations and interests include the American Legion, Disabled Veterans, and the Minot Area Development Corporation. David enjoyed traveling, hunting, reading and football. </p><p><br> David is survived by David (Cindy) Doeringsfeld of Lewiston, ID, Michael Doeringsfeld of Dallas, TX, Vickie (Robbin) of Groton, SD and Marjorie Ecker of Sioux Falls. Grandchildren: Danielle (Reed) Shaffner, Jayme (Josh) Kern, Ashton (Brian) Aninzo, Jordan (Chelsea) Anderson, Greg (KaMeesha) Anderson. Great Grand Children: Theodore &amp; Sloane Shaffner, Lenny &amp; Sullivan Kern, Autumn &amp; Dakota Anderson and Malaya &amp; Boden Anderson. </p><p><br> David is preceded in death by his wife Iris Doeringsfeld, his parents Amos and Ruth Doeringsfeld and sister Kay Tusler-Bubolz. </p><p><br> A Celebration of Life will be held at the Presbyterian Church, Groton, SD on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 1:00pm. A reception will be held immediately after the service at the American Legion Hall. </p><p><br> The family suggests memorials go to: El Riad Shriners Transportation Fund, 510 S Phillips Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57104. </p>

David Thomas Doeringsfeld (90) passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023. 

He was born at the family farm on November 2, 1932 to Amos and Ruth Doeringsfeld in Groton, South Dakota.  In his early years, he helped on the family farm and worked at Amos’s Corner Truck Stop. David graduated from Groton High School in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952. David served as a crew chief working on jet fighters in the Korean War. He married Iris Joyce Albrecht on December 26, 1954 in Aberdeen, SD.
