Chris Reid Finnerty Obituary

Chris Reid Finnerty, 40, of New Milford, and formerly of Tobyhanna, died on Monday March 13th at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, after a sudden illness with his loving wife, the former Jennifer O’Dell by his side.  The couple was married on October 9, 2021.

Born in Ridgewood, NJ, son of Nancy Reid Finnerty, Tobyhanna, and the late Joseph Finnerty, he was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City.  He was a graduate of Pocono Mountain High School, Class of 2001, and the Lincoln Technical Institute.  Chris was a dedicated employee at Hexagon Metrology, Inc.  Prior to his current employment, he was employed at Optech for 15 years, where he made friendships that have lasted since; his job allowed him to travel to China, Italy, and all over the world.  In his free time, Chris enjoyed spending time with his best friends, Hippie and Louis, who were more like brothers to him.  He also enjoyed his motorcycle, snowboarding, finding the best BBQ spots, video games, and most importantly, spending time with Jenn and adoring Jake.  He was so excited to welcome his second son this June.  His friends and family will make sure his kids remember him every day and his legacy will live on through them.

In addition to being survived by his mother and his wife Jennifer, who was the love of his life, he is also survived by his son Jake, who he adored, and his son-to-be; a brother: Kevin Finnerty and wife Jihee Kim, Philadelphia; mother and father-in-law: Bill and Pat O’Dell, New Milford; sister-in-law: Kasie Ruddy and husband Brian, Dunmore; brother-in-law: Billy O’Dell and significant other, Hayley Skorupa, Forest City; brother-in-law: Dylan O’Dell, New Milford and significant other Michaela McLaughlin, Carbondale; nieces and nephews: Claire, Chloe, and Beau Ruddy and Thomas Finnerty; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and devoted friends.

The funeral will be Monday, March 20th, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Church, 741 Delaware Street, Forest City.  Friends may call at the church from 9 am until mass time.  Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Jake and his future brother.
