Alan P Chomiak Obituary

Alan Peter Chomiak, age 80, son of Mathew Chomiak and Anna Violet (Radena) Chomiak. Born in Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck, NJ. Predeceased by his sister, Gail Ann (Chomiak) Kasper, married to Kenneth Kasper.


Alan graduated Hackensack High School, in Hackensack, NJ in the year 1960, then graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in June of 1964 with a BS in Business Management and Advertising. He received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army Reserve 1964-1970, Rank and Pay Grade: Sergeant First Class, E-7.


Alan’s career in Advertising and Marketing began at HBM Creamer, Inc. in New York City from 1965-1987. From 1987-1991 he was employed by Della Femina McNamee, in NYC, 1992-1993 he was employed by Staada & Koorey, Inc, in Hackettstown, NJ, then from 1994-2003 he was employed by Brushfire, Inc. in Whippany, NJ. Alan had proven skills in planning and executing communications programs for a wide variety of Fortune 500 companies.


Alan’s favorite role was that of husband and father. Married in 1966 to Claire Alice Hansen and lived to enjoy 57 years of marriage and had been blessed with three sons: Scott, Craig and Todd, born in 1967, 1969 and 1971, respectively. He has also been blessed with three lovely daughters-in-law, Katie, Carrie and Jacque. The blessings did not stop for Alan, for he enjoyed four beautiful granddaughters, Ella, Madeline, Lucy and Olivia.


Alan and Claire enjoyed traveling and spent many vacations in different countries in Europe, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Costa Rica and many National Parks in the U.S. Alan had a full life but did not forget people less fortunate. He was a former member of St. Michael’s Church in Wayne, NJ where he worked on Building and Grounds, Outreach, Usher and Memorial Garden Chair. Alan also did a lot of volunteer work for the American Red Cross Disaster Services, such as setting up shelters after the many hurricanes, especially Sandy; installed smoke detectors in lower income housing with local fire departments, established temporary residences for people who were burned out of their homes and many other clerical duties. He belonged to NJ Business Marketing Association and was on the Board at Latigo HOA in Castle Rock, CO.


In lieu of flowers, Alan had requested that donations be made in his name, to his son Craig’s Walk MS team in Jersey City, NJ. The team's name is Luke SkyWALKER and the Wookies and donations can be made using the following link:
