<p>Bonnie Elaine Saban</p><p><br></p><p>Bonnie Elaine Saban, 80, of Huntley, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital. Born November 9, 1942, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Isadore and Sadie (Kerchner) Rubin. Graduated from Northwestern with a Bachelors in Theater and later from Kansas State University with a Masters in Theater. After college Bonnie moved to Israel where she met her former husband, Yitzchak Saban and lived through several wars. She moved back to Illinois in 1978. Employed as a teacher by the Rockford Public School District 205 for many years. Member of O’Have Shalom Synagogue. Bonnie loved her dogs, theater, and attending plays. Bonnie produced plays for the retirement communities in Huntley and volunteered at the Holocaust Museum. Survivors include her children, Joel (Susan) Saban, Mia Saban, and Dan (Panteha) Saban; grandchildren, Jessica, Lauren, David, Nick, and Ashley; canine companion, Max. Predeceased by her parents; brother, Howard Rubin; uncle, Max Rubin; and canine companion, Toby.</p><p><br></p><p>Graveside service at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Rockford Hebrew Cemetery, 819 Cottage Grove Ave., Rockford, IL. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center; ILHolocaustmuseum.org.</p>

Bonnie and I were neighbors in Huntley. After we moved away, Bonnie and I would stay in touch by phone. We always shared talking about our family events, life in Huntley, and, of course, about Toby and Max. I will miss speaking to my friend Bonnie.
