June Brau Obituary

On June 8, 1931 a beautiful baby girl named June Lynette Laughlin was born to Lena and Randy Laughlin in Oklahoma City where they resided for nine years. June was an only child. From there they moved to McKenzie Island, Ontario. In 1954 June married Heinz Brau. They were married for 65 years. They had five children, a very busy but happy home. Grandma lived with us for 9 years. Mom and Dad always had new adventures for us, being swimming, fishing, skating or travelling on many road trips, so many fond memories. 1970 they moved to Birtle MB., where they opened the Birtle IGA store. In five years time they built and operated the Birtle Abbittor.  1979 they moved back to Winnipeg where they resided for many years. 2017 they moved back to Birtle to be close to family.

Mom was an active curler in her younger years and still enjoyed watching it on TV. Her other hobbies were knitting many beautiful outfits for her children and grandchildren, and tole painting, we have many treasured gifts from this talented art of mom's. Mom was a warm, nurturing and supportive parent instilling love, kindness and respect in her children while encouraging us to be independent and having our own unique skills. She was always sharing. She had such a beautiful contagious smile.

Mom was heart broken when Dad and her two sons, Donald and Douglas passed away but she chose to remain strong in her faith and the support of her family. Mom is survived by Lynette (Wayne), Janie (Mark), Fred, Patricia (Daughter-in-law), Jamie (Lois). Grandchildren: Melodie (Ryan), Collin (Stephanie), Derek (Meagan), Taylor (Jason), Bridgette, Tyler (LiAnne), Stephen. Great grandchildren: Davey, Ben, Brody, Jacey, Riley, Charley, Mason, Finn, Casey, Amelia, Daxton, Wyatt. Great-great grandson Calder. Step grandchildren: Ally, Kayla, Carter and Lane Cook.
