Obituary

Allen (Al) Michael Jaques, Age 53, of Centerville, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on March 15, 2023, after a courageous five year battle with Glioblastoma (GBM) brain cancer.

Al's passion in life was anything outdoors. After getting his certificate in Golf Course and Turf Management from Anoka Tech, he worked at many golf courses as well as the Science Museum of Minnesota as grounds manager; his final job was in turf and grounds sales. After he "retired" he continued to tinker in his own yard, many experiments with various native prairie plants, bushes, trees and grasses. When he wasn't busy tinkering in the yard, Al spent a lot of time hunting and fishing; his most favorite was waterfowl hunting, which he taught his boys to love as well.

Al met his wife Melissa in the fall of 2003 at their current home church, where Al was baptized in Decemeber 2003. They were married soon after in June 2004, and moved to their current home in Centerville the end of 2004. Many memories have been shared here raising his two boys and spending time with family and friends around bonfires, sharing the gospel, harvesting from plants and trees, talking turf, playing a mean game of cribbage or just sharing one-liners.

Al had a strong love for the Lord and sharing the good word with friends and family. He made it a point to pray before every meal, to study the word every day, and listen to his bible app. He played a part in leading many to Christ and encouraging many in their faith.

Survived by loving wife of 18 years, Melissa; sons Parker (Jessica) Jaques and Preston Jaques; parents Jim (Carol) Jaques and Norma (Paul) Freppert; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Duane and Jean Halvorson; Sister, Erin (Matthew) Beyer; Brother, Jeremy (Danielle) Jaques; Sisters-in-Law, Diane (Joe) Maltese and Heidi Halvorson; Brother-in-Law, Trevor (Kristine) Halvorson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Preceded in death by sister Katherine Jaques; aunts Julie Jaques and Jane Jaques; grandparents, Frances and Lorraine Jaques and Myron and Florence Myers.

Special thank you to the care team at University of Minnesota and Accent Care hospice services. We would not have made it 5 years without this amazing team.
